Hope for the Best,Prepare for the Worst

"If one asks for success and prepares for failure,he will get the situation he has prepared for"--Florence Shinn

I think that this is like the saying"hope for the best, but prepare for the worst" which means that although you may just want the best, the worst may come also. You just have to take the good with the bad. Work towards success, but failure may come your way but it's up to you to try harder next time. You should prepare to succeed but account for failure. Ever tried to work towards something real hard and come out on top, but instead it seems like you've hit rock bottom?

One Minute You're Here. . .

To Whomever May Want to Listen,
There has a recent outcry by the country as a result of a seventeen year old by the name of Trayvon Martin. Trayvon was killed by a 28 year old, self-appointed neighborhood watchman named George Zimmerman. Trayvon was basically killed because George found him to be "suspicious". Disobedient to warnings by a 911 dispatcher to stop following the Florida high school student, Zimmerman took it upon himself to confront the young man. What he did in the matter of minutes is what really causing the outrage. Zimmerman shot the young man who was only armed with a bag of Skittles and Arizona iced tea. Zimmerman claimed that Trayvon attacked him and bashed his head into the ground, but recent videos after Zimmerman being taken into the jail show no bruises on the back of his head.
Many people have cried the "race card" and have compared George Zimmerman to Troy Davis. People stated that if Zimmerman would have been African American that he would have been arrested with the quickness, but since George is who he is that everything is simply fine. I just believe that every death, no matter what the race of the person is, deserves justice. A young man died before he could really begin his life. This is a shame and actions must be taken for justice. We can not bring him back, but hopefully steps can be taken to prevent another incident of this from happening.
Do you think that these rallies will help or will people make a commotion for a little while like for Troy Davis and then return to their everyday lives as if everything is fine?

Blogger's Choice

The proposed charter school bill passed in the Mississippi Senate and will move forward to the House of Representatives. It will head to the House's Education Committee where efforts for charter schools have always failed. A charter school is a state funded public school that operates independently of the local school district. I think it would be a good idea to have charter schools in Jackson. I think that the school would be more hands on with the students and may require that the students will be at a school a little longer but that's fine. That way it will give them something productive to do with their time instead of running the streets.
Do you believe that charter schools will actually succeed or be another example of "No Child Left Behind" when children are actually being left behind in school ?

Mardi Gras

What does Mardi Gras mean to you? What is it all about?

Mardi Gras to me means celebrating with big parades and wearing green, gold,or purple. Festivities where you just celebrate and have a good time where beads are thrown. I think that Mardi Gras is just about having a good time. Have you ever celebrated Mardi Gras in Louisiana or on the Coast? How was it? Or did you have any other memories from Mardi Gras? Mines is that I had a birthday party and had a cake decorated with things related to Mardi Gras like beads and other things.

Success

What is your definition of success?

My definition of success would be to achieve your highest goal that you have set forth for yourself. Being successful doesn't always mean being known or receiving a lot of money. To me, it means pleasing yourself and then receiving the praise of others. Do you feel that you have to be successful by being on TV?

Poor Living in a Rich Man's Country

"I've never been poor, only broke. Being poor is a frame of mind. Being broke is a temporary situation." -Mike Todd

In my opinion what Mike Todd is saying, is that people are never poor. They are just broke and that only lasts temporarily because it will only be a spell that you are going through where you might not have much to your name. I believe that no one is ever poor because if they have a good state of mind or wisdom, their soul is still rich. Being broke make refer to money. Do you feel like you have to be underpaid or overpaid in this world to survive?

It's In His Hands

"We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall"-Proverbs 11:33

We may have in mind what we want to do in life, but the Lord is the ultimate decider of how everything will go & if you'll actually be able to do so. We can do all that we want, but it's still in His hands. Have you ever been in a situation where you thought that everything you did was just right, but still in the end found yourself come up short? Why do you think this happened?

Facebook & Your Privacy

Do you have a Facebook,Twitter,or Tumblr page? Do you feel as if it's an invasion of your privacy if someone looks on your page & judges you off of what you post? I'm kind of neutral on this topic because I feel that what you post is how you feel at the moment and if someone judges you off of it they're making an assumption. I'd rather someone approach me & ask me about what I said. Then again, a person should still be aware of what he/she posts.

Mississippi Has Been In The Negative Light Once Again

Some Mississippians would state that once again we, as a state, have been acknowledged for something negative. If it's not for Mississippi being the fattiest state or for have a number of STDs, we've been noticed now for the actions of our former governor, Haley Barbour. In his last days of office, Barbour pardoned over 200+ inmates including those convicted of murder. This sparked a lot of controversy. I feel as if what he did is wrong because if those were proven guilty of murder, why would you put them back onto the streets? Barbour reasoning behind that said that he believes in second chances. I believe in second chances but I'd rather have him had given pardons to those inmates that had drug possession charges. It's very wrong in my opinion. Barbour knew of the problems that would arise & basically kept with the saying,"Go out with a big BANG"! Would you rather him have given the pardons to people with lesser crimes or cold, stone hearted murderers ??

Feelings

"Nobody holds a good opinion of a man who has a low opinion of himself"
Anthony Trollope
This quote means that no one can judge or know a man if he has low self esteem. You will not know the true meaning of him because he will always have a low opinion of himself. He may be a nice person without the depression & all, but you will never know if that overshadows who he really is. That's kind of what I interpreted from this meaning. No one knows anyone better than they know their own self. Other than you knowing yourself, who do you think knows you better?

Enemies or Friends ???

"Our best friends and our worse enemies are our thoughts. A thought can do us more good than a doctor or a banker or a faithful friend. It can do us more harm than a brick." -Dr. Frank Crane

What I interpreted from this quote is that what can either harm you or encourage you is your thoughts. Certain thinking can result in low self-esteem or high self-esteem. Harmful thoughts make you down yourself, whereas good thoughts will encourage you to keep your head held high. Do you think your thoughts are your best friends or more of your enemy? What do you think are the forces behind this?

friendly thoughts my way,

2012 Goals

The most discussed year since the year of "Big Brother" arriving has come...2012!! Most people said that since the Mayans predicted it that this year would be the end, that we wouldn't make it, however we have & as for any other year, another year brings goals and resolutions that we hope to fulfill before the next year. This year is a year that I've been awaiting for a long time. This is MY year & such a big year for me being that I graduate this year ..... SUPER EXCITED !! My goals for 2012 are to graduate in the Top Ten & to leave with a 4.0 GPA. Also I intend to excel superbly in college. I want to do a lot this year & continue to help others by volunteer work. Do you know of any great volunteer programs that can reach the community as a whole? This year will come will many surprises I can just feel it.. How about you? How are you feeling about this year?
