Mississippi Has Been In The Negative Light Once Again
Some Mississippians would state that once again we, as a state, have been acknowledged for something negative. If it's not for Mississippi being the fattiest state or for have a number of STDs, we've been noticed now for the actions of our former governor, Haley Barbour. In his last days of office, Barbour pardoned over 200+ inmates including those convicted of murder. This sparked a lot of controversy. I feel as if what he did is wrong because if those were proven guilty of murder, why would you put them back onto the streets? Barbour reasoning behind that said that he believes in second chances. I believe in second chances but I'd rather have him had given pardons to those inmates that had drug possession charges. It's very wrong in my opinion. Barbour knew of the problems that would arise & basically kept with the saying,"Go out with a big BANG"! Would you rather him have given the pardons to people with lesser crimes or cold, stone hearted murderers ??

I disagree with this post. I think that these people should be free. Most of them are unfairly sentenced anyway.
